Florida Keys Draped in Red, White and Blue for Flag Day

FLORIDA KEYS (June 12, 2026) — From Key Largo to Key West, more than 100 miles of the Florida Keys will be draped in red, white and blue Sunday, June 14, as fire trucks, utility company bucket trucks, and businesses line the Overseas Highway with one of the most expansive National Flag Day displays in South Florida.

Fire rescue stations and utility crews will raise oversized flags from ladder and bucket trucks along U.S. 1, joined by private businesses and homes up and down the island chain. The event marks both National Flag Day and the approaching 250th anniversary of American independence.

Confirmed large flag display locations along Overseas Highway include fire rescue stations in Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon and Cudjoe Key, along with Hurricane Boat Lifts, the Islander and Cheeca Lodge resorts in Islamorada, and utility company displays in Tavernier, Marathon, and at the entrance to Key West near the Key West Golf Course. 

Visitors stopping by the Key Largo Fire Rescue Station at 220 Reef Drive at the entrance to the Keys are invited to pay respects at the station’s September 11 memorial and see their oversized flag raised high on the station’s ladder truck. Residents and businesses throughout the Florida Keys and Key West are also expected to fly American flags in celebration of Flag Day.

Large flag display locations include:

• Fire rescue stations on or near U.S. 1 including Key Largo Fire Rescue (mile marker 106), Islamorada Fire Rescue (mile marker 81), Marathon Fire Rescue (mile marker 54), and Monroe County Fire Rescue at Cudjoe Key (mile marker 20);
• Florida Keys Electric Cooperative will have bucket trucks with flags flying in front of offices in Tavernier (mile marker 91) and Marathon (mile marker 34).
• Keys Energy will station a truck and flag in front of Key West Golf Course (mile marker 4).
• Businesses that always fly large flags include Vicky Bakery in Key Largo; Hurricane Boat Lifts and the Islander and Cheeca Lodge resorts in Islamorada; and others throughout the Keys.

Residents and businesses throughout the Keys are also expected to fly flags in observance of Flag Day.
