Lady Anglers Hook 110 Offshore Fish at the Ladies Let’s Go Fishing Screamin’ Reels Tournament
ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — The fish were biting and the lines were flying as lady anglers hauled in a whopping 110 offshore fish during the 2025 Ladies Let’s Go Fishing Screamin’ Reels Tournament, held May 16–18 in the beautiful waters of Islamorada.
Hosted by the nonprofit Ladies Let’s Go Fishing Foundation, the event is more than just a tournament—it’s an open door for women and families to dive into the world of fishing. Designed especially for beginners and those looking to level up their skills, it offers a fun, inclusive, and educational experience on and off the water.
“Screamin’ Reels welcomes casual anglers into a fun and supportive tournament where nearly any legal offshore or inshore species is fair game,” said founder Betty Bauman. “It’s perfect for women who’ve never imagined entering a tournament.”
The weekend kicked off in style at the Tavernier Elks Club with a festive welcome party and a special guest appearance by Miami Vice star and fishing aficionado Olivia Brown (a.k.a. Trudy). Out on the water, anglers landed mahi, wahoo, tuna, amberjack, and more—finishing the tournament with a spirited awards at Whale Harbor Marina.

Offshore Division:
- 1st Place: Kat Farese – 15.8 lb. Wahoo on Marlin Darlin (Dania Beach, FL)
- 2nd Place: Michelle Mobley – 12.45 lb. Blackfin Tuna on Sea Horse (Orlando, FL)
- 3rd Place: Kelly DeNone – 10.8 lb. Wahoo on Poppa Wahoo (Tavernier, FL)
Offshore Jack Division:
- 1st Place: Melissa Vickers – 30.1 lb. Amberjack on Miller Time (Cocoa Beach, FL)
Dubbed the “No-Yelling School of Fishing,” the Ladies Let’s Go Fishing Foundation has been empowering women and families since 1997 through seminars, hands-on training, and tournaments across Florida—all while championing conservation and ethical angling.
The group returns to the Keys October 17–19 for a full-day seminar followed by two days of fishing, and again January 30 – February 1, 2026, for the Islamorada Women’s Sailfish Tournament. Early registration is encouraged.
