Two Florida Keys Experiences Honored at U.K.’s JRNY America Awards
Two Florida Keys experiences were recognized recently at the United Kingdom’s inaugural JRNY America Awards, which celebrate the best of American tourism.
The Turtle Hospital in Marathon and the Monroe County Tourist Development Council’s Florida Keys Eco-Experience Trail Pass received silver awards in the Best Conservation Initiative and Best New Tourism Experience categories respectively.
Staged in London last Thursday, the awards event gathered travel industry leaders to honor excellence across multiple categories. Entries were judged independently by a panel of leading travel journalists.
The awards also marked the launch of the quarterly JRNY America magazine, committed to sharing unique stories of United States travel. JRNY America is a spin-off of JRNY magazine, launched during the COVID-19 pandemic by a collective of travel writers and photographers. The magazine is now one of the U.K.’s leading travel publications.
“A longstanding favorite with U.K. visitors and travel writers, the Turtle Hospital stands out for its educational work (and) care and rehabilitation of sick and injured sea turtles,” said JRNY co-founder Kav Dafar. “Meanwhile the Eco-Experience Trail Pass gives visitors an easy way to learn about and access responsible travel throughout the Keys, encouraging engagement with the island chain’s natural environment and increasing visitation to local businesses which offer sustainable experiences.”
